This apartment bears the name of mezzascala (halfway up the stairs) because the entrance is on a landing found approximately halfway up the staircase which leads to the upper floors of the villa. On that exact spot, a bell recovered from a family Chapel (still owned by the Toricellis and located beyond the Il Giogo Pass towards Firenzuola) was placed there to safeguard it from thieves.
The apartment measures 42 square meters and is comprised of a bedroom, bath, and living/dining room with kitchenette. There is also a terrace which overlooks the park.
The flooring of this apartment is particularly interesting. It was made with wooden panels of varying sizes recovered from the staves of the villa’s wine barrels which were handcrafted by a local artisan.
